Econ Calendar – Page 202 – If, Then… Market Timing

Econ Calendar

Look ahead: Economic Calendar – for Wed Jul 1 2015

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: This being Employment Situation week (which comes Thursday due to the holiday), the focus turns to jobs reports. ADP tends to influence price action, while revealing something of the market”s sentiment. And its reaction tends to be repeated on any high-profile post-open report — which would apply to the ISM number.

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights:

I”m unable to locate specifics on the Fed”s Bullard speech Tuesday. He”s gotten a reputation for talking the market up when it”s at its worst, so I”ll keep looking. Fed Speaker Dudley probably precedes Bullard. Also relevant is the post-open PMI, which is released privately to its institutional, and discernible market reaction tends to repeat when released publicly several minutes later. Also, any sentiment it reveals tends to be repeated in reaction to other reports, like the Consumer Confidence number 15 minutes later.

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights:

Monday”s post-open housing sector report is the first in almost a week, but it”s not likely to get a reaction without being surprising. Like all other Fed surveys except Philadelphia, the Dallas survey has no track record of influencing price action.

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights:

Friday”s pre-open Consumer Sentiment number has a good track record of getting a reaction from price action. Being hawkish, the post-open Fed speaker probably won”t surprise the market, but she”s highlighted anyway.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar – for Thu Jun 25 2015

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights:

Thursday”s pre-open Claims has gotten a lousy track record for influencing price action. The post-open PMI doesn”t have much better influence, but it has a little. The noon hour”s 7-year auction can be influential, if only for inhibiting price action ahead of its succesful placement, which often clears the way for a brief “relief rally.”
