Highlights: Happy Day after Thanksgiving! An always lightly-attended session, Friday’s abbreviated close tends not to trend, but it is not immune to gapping open sharply away from Wednesday’s close.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar
A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.
Highlights: Wednesday’s econ calendar is interesting on several levels. Three of the pre-open reports are announced simultaneously, at least one of which (Jobless Claims) tends to impact price action even when announced on its own. Making it past that gauntlet will then be confronted by the always oddly-timed post-open Consumer Sentiment. Then watch out for the 7-year auction, especially if Tuesday’s 5-year auction were not well received.

Highlights: Tuesday’s calendar is busy, and high-profile, but only one item tends to influence price action — the afternoon’s FOMC minutes. The 5-year auction could have an impact, too, if it is not well received.

Highlights: Monday’s pre-open item has been generating a track record of influencing price action. The post-open item tends to get a reaction, as well. Pre-open and post-open items on Monday don’t need to be high-profile to get a reaction.
