Look ahead: Economic Calendar
A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.
Highlights: Wednesday’s Housing Starts follows Tuesday’s Housing Market Index, so there could be a reaction if the data is divergent. But the bigger focus will be on Bernanke’s first day of the two-day Humphrey Hawkins testimony. Unusually, the embargo on his opening remarks will be lifted at 8:30am — that gives the market an opportunity to be really, really volatile, while also giving Ben an opportunity to walk back or clarify his remarks 90 minutes later based on that market reaction. The afternoon’s Beige Book usually influences price action, too, which might keep the Wed-Ex signal unknown until the day’s final ticks.
