Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Tuesday’s first two pre-open reports offer more data on holiday-season sales figures. The pre-open housing sector report and post-open Consumer Confidence each have track records of influencing price action. But the most influential report will be the Chicago PMI, which is released early to its institutional subscribers and often offers a highly predictable trade. The bond market’s early close and New Year’s plans will drain afternoon liquidity.
