Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: How close did last month’s FOMC discussion come to tapering even more? Probably close. June 24’s hawkish comments by a dovish member suggest that he was repeating what he had said already behind closed doors. His public comments sent the market tumbling then, so releasing his quotes in the FOMC Minutes will likely do the same. The question is whether the market will have postured defensively ahead of the news, already discounting it to help absorb the impact. Rallying Wednesday morning would more likely be broadsided.
