Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Tuesday’s calendar is very interesting for its 10:00am items. They’re post-open, simultaneous, and high-profile. Any of these factors is likely to disrupt the initial trending. But there’s an interesting twist here, in their being related to each other – home sales and pricing. The opportunity is high for conflicting info, or for doubly extreme readings either way – not to mention the recent impact of the housing credit lapsing… And don’t forget about last week’s reaction to surprisingly weak Retail Sales. There isn’t usually much impact from Goldman’s Store Sales or Redbook, but they’re sure to cause anxiety now.
