A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: The “pulse of commerce index” (PCI) seems like an interesting metric. It is based on diesel fuel usage, which assumes a correlation to trucking – and it is real time. Bernanke’s first day of two consecutive congressional testimonies will also be influential Wednesday – watch for the lifting of an embargo on his opening remarks. And the 10-year auction will be another glimpse into the 30-year’s acceptance Thursday, following the 3-year’s auction Tuesday.
