A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Quite a day ahead, and it begins tonight with the State of the Union address. Two higher profile post-open items come simultaneously at 10:00. The 5-year note auction starts getting far enough out the yield curve to be dangerous. And the FOMC announcement’s unusual noon hour timing is followed by Bernanke’s equally unusual quarterly press conference.
