A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Friday’s post-open item stands alone, and comes at an unusual time. That may throw the market a curve, but only briefly. The bond market closes early ahead of the three-day holiday weekend, which normally means that stocks are subdued — but it occasionally serves to enhance volatility.
