Econ Calendar – Page 263 – If, Then… Market Timing

Econ Calendar

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Tuesday’s pre-open housing sector report will be announced during our morning Market Tour. Its reaction will be interesting after the recent surprise.  The post-open Consumer Confidence report is much more reliably influential, often inhibiting price action prior to its release. If the pre-open report were to generate a reaction, I wouldn’t expect anything different from later reports.

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Monday’s housing sector report is the first since Wednesday’s shocking surprise that kept that morning under pressure. Confirming or contradicting the report either way should generate a reaction.

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Two reports come Friday, but only one has a track record of influencing price action — both inhibiting trending before it, and triggering a reaction to it.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: The pre-open monthly Durable Goods report is high-profile and influential. So is the weekly Jobless Claims, which is released simultaneously. Wednesday’s post-open reports are neither, although the Natty Gas report might impact that market’s ongoing rally, which was helped by last week’s report.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Wednesday’s post-open PMI report hasn’t yet gotten a reliable track record for influencing price action. But being post-open does often enable it to inhibit trending. Then the housing sector report will be interesting relative to Tuesday’s two sector reports preceding it.
