Econ Calendar – Page 279 – If, Then… Market Timing

Econ Calendar

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Monday’s two post-open reports being announced simultaneously can inhibit price action before being announced, and more heavily influence it afterward. But only the ISM report has a history of its data influencing price action.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Like last week, the two EIA reports are delayed until Friday. An afternoon line-up of current and former FOMC officials leans mostly dovish, doing their part to support the year’s first weekly close.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Thursday’s pre-open Jobless Claims greets a thinner trading crowd, as it did last week, which didn’t necessarily exaggerate the market’s reaction. The pre-open PMI report doesn’t yet have a track record of influencing price action. The post-open ISM report is often influential, but not the Construction report which is being announced simultaneously.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Tuesday’s first two pre-open reports offer more data on holiday-season sales figures. The pre-open housing sector report and post-open Consumer Confidence each have track records of influencing price action. But the most influential report will be the Chicago PMI, which is released early to its institutional subscribers and often offers a highly predictable trade. The bond market’s early close and New Year’s plans will drain afternoon liquidity.
