Econ Calendar
Look ahead: Economic Calendar
A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.
Highlights: The week begins with what is usually not an influential report. Regardless, it is not very predictable since it is likely impacted by Hurrican Sandy. By the same token, any surprise in it should lead other numbers to be revised, which could impact near-term price action.

Highlights: Jobless Claims continues to be skewed by lingering and ongoing Hurricane Sandy fallout. Rather than diminish the report’s effect, it should create more volatility. That, and being released simultaneously with two other high-profile reports. The 30-year auction should inhibit price action before its results are reported.

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.
Highlights: Wednesday morning’s econ reports aren’t influential. The FOMC announcement will be, in two ways. First is that the FOMC announcement is always influential. Second is its unusual timing, during the noon hour. As a plus to enhancing volatility, Bernanke will hold his quarterly press conference.

Highlights: Monday’s empty calendar is followed by Tuesday’s noisy calendar. For all of its noise, Tuesday’s calendar barely any more informative. Retail sales metrics will be interesting in the context of holiday sales, and so will be the 3-year note auction’s ease. The real stuff starts coming Wednesday…
