Econ Calendar – Page 341 – If, Then… Market Timing

Econ Calendar

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Monday’s pre-open item did trigger an unusual reaction last month. Normally, that would inhibit price action before the report. That’s not so assured on Mondays, so the report will need to be surprising to be influential. The post-open Fed region report doesn’t tend to influence price action.

Highlights: The unusual timing of Friday’s post-open report no longer blind-sides initial trending, but it does tend to inhibit the ultimate resolution — so the initial action is often counter-trend.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Thursday’s three simultaneous pre-open reports might not dilute the initial knee-jerk reaction to Jobless Claims, except to make it briefer. The post-open housing data will be influential, regardless of whether it validates or contradicts Wednesday’s two reports.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Wednesday morning’s steady flow of high-profile econ reports already should interfere with price action. Two post-open housing numbers announced simultaneously should literally double their impact, even if they conflict with each other. Regardless, any early trending could become inhibited by anxiousness ahead of the afternoon’s FOMC interest rate policy announcement.
