Highlights: Friday’s pre-open report is high-profile, but is not reliable for predicting the reaction to the post-open item. And that item’s off-timing at 5 minutes before the top of the hour increases its influence on price action. It should either accelerate or reverse any trending already underway.

Highlights: It’s usually innocuous, but start keeping an eye on MBA Purchase Apps. It can only surprise to the upside, which has gotten easier to do as other Housing sector metrics have fallen considerably. Speaking of which, the Home Sales report comes post-open.
