Highlights: This week is unusual for containing both an FOMC meeting, and the monthly Employment Situation report. All of the week’s items will have the added dimension of considering how their data might affect either. Also, along with the latter report comes several private industry reports that look at the jobs picture, which will also shape the week’s two major events. Wednesday it is Challenger and ADP. Finally, This is one of the quarterly Bernanke conferences that throws off the market’s accustomed timing. The committee’s decision is released during the noon hour, and during its normal release Bernanke takes a Q&A. Exciting.

Highlights: Monday econ reports have become less rare. Monday post-open econ reports, too. But Chicago PMI is an unusual time for any report, more so for a Monday. Even the slightest surprise is likelier either to accelerate or to reverse initial trending.
