The Universe, week of December 7, 2015… The taxman cometh back. – If, Then… Market Timing

The Universe, week of December 7, 2015… The taxman cometh back.

[Note: I publish “The Universe” every weekend, updating my support and resistance calculations for Marijuana sector stocks. It is not a projection, but a handy reference… Non-Marijuana stocks are covered elsewhere during the week.]

It’s that time of year. I alluded to this last week before Thanksgiving. The holiday that prompts us to give thanks, is followed by a focus on getting rid of losers.

i.e. Locking in stock losses.

I’ve already begun seeing Cannabis sector stocks suddenly breaking under months-long bases. It’s not that the bases were accumulative, or expected to break higher. But the breaks have been sudden, and then multi-day.

This observation has been largely limited to sub-pennies, but that’s sure to change as year-end approaches. Don’t hesitate to get my chart review of any stock (not just the Cannabis sector) that you’re considering for sale this month.

CARA – Got as low as 13.35 so far today — is it important for it to reach all the way to 13.00 and then recover to 15.50, or is this close enough for a nibble?

    • Rod David on December 7, 2015 - 3:23 pm at 3:23 pm

CARA — It’s near enough to start nibbling, but it’s still important to actually touch 13. Bouncing from any higher would suggest something more substantial underway.

KMI – people piling in today – is this just a dead cat bounce?

    • Rod David on December 7, 2015 - 4:26 pm at 4:26 pm

KMI — Looks more like piling out than piling in, unless your monitor is upside down ;)

Hi Rod, SPRWF – confirmed breakout – or waiting to fill the gap below? Tks.

    • Rod David on December 8, 2015 - 8:36 am at 8:36 am

SPRWF — Breakout. It didn’t participate in the TWMJF and OGRMF second wind. This could be its own 3rd surge coming.

    FEYE………..Has it bottomed……….time to buy?

    • Rod David on December 8, 2015 - 9:40 am at 9:40 am

FEYE – Bottoming requires some sort of ranging, “backing-and-filling.” This pattern continues to be a series of lower lows and lower highs, so it is still classified as trending.

SUNE having a good day….where is the resistance here?

    • Rod David on December 9, 2015 - 3:27 pm at 3:27 pm

      SUNE — 4.31 and 5.25 resistance

  6. casjf on December 9, 2015 - 1:40 pm at 1:40 pm

KMI – Are you sure it isn’t starting to bottom?

    • Rod David on December 9, 2015 - 3:28 pm at 3:28 pm

KMI — making lower and lower lows. What is the bottoming action that you are seeing?

  7. casjf on December 9, 2015 - 4:15 pm at 4:15 pm

KMI – I see 4 days with double to quadruple normal volume, with the most recent 3 days being 3 green days, with today opening and closing above yesterday’s close. Although given its terrible track record, I’m realizing it probably would be helpful to be patient for at least through this week, or possibly even until a solid recovery in the $19 area?

    • Rod David on December 10, 2015 - 8:54 am at 8:54 am

KMI — The volume does seem to be reaching a crescendo. Perhaps most selling is done. Those sellers needed to be matched by buyers, and nothing suggests they’re suddenly starting up their own engines to outlast the selling, not after a steady drop since April. While a bounce to 18.10 or 19.75 is possible just as noise, bottoms just don’t appear suddenly in these patterns. They take time to form, and the actual low is usually accompanied by relatively low volume, not high. An acquisition would be one of the only ways to shortcut that natural process. In a commodity stock like this, there could also be some external event that affects its underlying commodity.

Hi Rod, Does FCX need to fill yesterdays gap open? Possible bounce target? TY

    • Rod David on December 10, 2015 - 11:41 am at 11:41 am

FCX — Yes, that gap should be filled. Meanwhile, bounces have room up to 7.70 just as noise

The webinar software could not be initiated and customer service could not resolve it, so I’ve recorded Livestox and it should be available shortly…
