Rod David – Page 1838 – If, Then… Market Timing

Posts by Rod David

Livestox, May 28 2015

Livestox started with a discussion of OXIS. The stock had been testing support for quite awhile without ether recovering or extending down. But it was probing lower. And it was probing lower at the same time while it was being touted. So, I warned at the time that when news and price diverge, usually it is price that knows more than news.

Then the stock lost 50%.

I applied this to the stock market. A trading range since February (if not earlier) has been accompanied by “good” news that would enable a favorable environment. But the trading range persists. Price probably knows more than the news.

We also discussed Oil and Gold, and the following stocks (including the five that this week”s Universe focused on):

OXIS

USO

GLD

VAPE

TAUG

STEV

TRTC

CGRW

ENDO

PLPL

THCZ

TURV

The Livecharts issue has now

The Livecharts issue has now been resolved. But I have to focus on a timing window in the market through the bottom of the hour. So, let”s restart our Livestox session at 1:30.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar – for Fri May 29 2015

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights:

Friday”s pre-open GDP is high-profile, but has no reliable track record for influencing price action. Much more infuential is the post-open PMI, and the reaction to its private release to institutional subscribers tends to extend when released publicly minutes later. Consumer Sentiment 15 minutes later can also be influential.

GDP

Corporate Profits

Chicago PMI

Consumer Sentiment

Afternoon bias

THU afternoon signal (triggered at 1:20 ET) SPX ES
Bias-up: above 2118.75 2116.50
…would target 2124.75 2122.50
Bias-down: under 2112.25 2110.00
…would target 2106.50 2104.25
Signal status: NO-BIAS FAQ
INTRO VIDEOS #1 and #2

1. At 1:20, trading above the bias-up signal or under the bias-down signal would put into play a test of its bias-up or bias-down target.
2. Not triggering either bias signal at 1:20 would be “no-bias,” and the bias signals should define the bias environment”s range.
— A test of the opposite bias signal would be targeted if one bias signal was tested before triggering no-bias.
3. Touching the bias signal within 3 minutes either way of 1:20 would invoke a grace period through 1:30 to trigger a late signal.
— “Late” signals don”t require testing the opposite bias signal, but it”s still likely.
4. Still testing the bias signal at 1:30 after invoking the grace period would trigger “noN-bias,” with no bias influence.

Livestox starts at 12:15 ET.

Livestox starts at 12:15 ET. We”ll review the market, which continues absorb dips and to threaten new highs. Crude Oil is heading to a lower target, and so is Gold, so we”ll also review those markets. Add your stock chart analysis requests to this post”s comments section, and I”ll review them along with this week”s Universe focus stocks.
