Econ Calendar

Look ahead: Economic Calendar – for Wed Dec 24, 2014

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Despite this being a holiday-shortened week, Wednesday”s abbreviated session has relatively few econ reports. Be careful trying to “force” a trade in this environment.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar – for Tue Dec 23, 2014

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: It”s a holiday-shortened week, so many econ reports are being doubled-up on unusual days and with unusual simultaneous reports. The effect can enhance volatility initially, and then quickly set a tone for reacting to post-open reports.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar – for Mon Dec 22, 2014

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Monday”s pre-open Fed survey has no track record for influencing price action. The post-open Housing sector report does, more so for being released on a Monday.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar – for Fri Dec 19 2014

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: The BOJ will issue its policy statement overnight. I”m not sure whether its Governor Kuroda will host a Q&A. The two post-open Fed surveys have no track record for influencing price action. Option expiration can, if it behaves in specific ways through the open.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar – for Thu Dec 18, 2014

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Jobless Claims is Thursday”s only pre-open report, so it might be more influential to price action than normally as when it shares the spotlight. The post-open PMI report has not track record of influencing price action. But the Philly Fed survey does, being the only Fed survey that influences price action. LEI is reliable for influencing price action, too.
