Econ Calendar – Page 258 – If, Then… Market Timing

Econ Calendar

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Tuesday’s reports have no track record for influencing price action, not without being a surprise. They’re not even known for inhibiting price action prior to reporting. But the afternoon does bring out a lonely hawkish Fed speaker, and that can chill volatility or rallying ahead of the event.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Monday’s post-open ISM report has a track record of influencing price action. The PMI number preceding it doesn’t, but any reaction to it would suggest the market’s disposition to ISM.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Was incoming Cleveland Fed Pres Mester interpreted as more hawkish or dovish Thursday? She speaks again Friday, between two Fed hawks. Meanwhile, the post-open Chicago PMI is always interesting, with its surprises telegraphed in the market as its institutional subscribers react to the number’s early release. It’s followed by Consumer Sentiment, which is also very influential.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Thursday’s high-profile GDP actually has little track record of influencing price action, to which last month’s number was one a rare exception. Two Fed speakers are scheduled at the same time, including incoming Cleveland Fed Pres Mester — she probably leans more hawk than dove, but she can still surprise the market.

Highlights: Despite so many reports being squeezed into this holiday-shortened week, Wednesday’s reports have little tack record of influencing price action.
