Econ Calendar
Look ahead: Economic Calendar
A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.
Highlights: Last week’s last day before the 3-day holiday weekend was interesting in the morning when participation was at its greatest, then boring in the afternoon as participation thinned. It got exciting again at the very close. Of those characteristics, none is assured to repeat this Friday. Often, an extended boring period on the year’s last trading day tends to infect the entire session.

Highlights: The spacing of items on Thursday’s calendar allow each one to maximize its reaction. Jobless Claims isn’t usually announced alone. Chicago PMI is released at an usual time for high-profile reports. And the Home Sales report is the year’s last for the housing sector. The Kansas City Fed report could impact price action if Wednesday’s Dallas Fed data did.

Highlights: Tuesday’s calendar is as interesting as it is busy. The morning’s retail metrics provide one more look at Christmas sales. Case-Shiller comes after last week’s weird housing sector data. Among the post-open items, 10:00’s Consumer Confidence tends to influence price action whether inhibiting trending before it or exaggerating the reaction afterward.
