Econ Calendar – Page 242 – If, Then… Market Timing

Econ Calendar

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Tuesday’s calendar looks busy, but the reports have no track record of influencing price action. Meanwhile, two Fed speakers are scheduled pre-open, and both have potential to shake things up.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: The post-open Housing sector report can influence price action, more so for being post-open and on a Monday. But the Fed report should have no bearing at all on price action.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Friday’s option expiration is the quarterly so-called Quadruple Witching. There was a day when Triple Witching expiration caused massive price intraday swings. Nowadays, the event crowds out surprises more than it invites them. But it doesn’t often encounter high-profile influential econ reports, such as the post-open LEI. Or competition for liquidity from a record-setting IPO like Alibaba (BABA), scheduled to be priced after Thursday’s close for trading Friday.

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights: Wednesday’s close and range may allow my WedEX (Wednesday Expiration) Indicator to trigger, and to forecast a bias into and out of the weekend. Meanwhile, Exit polling from Scotland’s referendum on independence may be influencing price action soon after that. Oh, and each of the morning’s three econ reports is high-profile and has a track record of influencing price action.

Look ahead: Economic Calendar

A midday look ahead in preparation for economic reports and events scheduled for the next trading day.

Highlights:Wednesday’s pre-open CPI has a reliable track record for influencing price action. That reaction may foreshadow any reaction to the post-open Housing sector data. But both may be overshadowed by hesitation ahead of the afternoon’s FOMC policy statement. Its influence on price action is among the month’s strongest. More so, this month, as it is followed by the quarterly Fed Chair’s Q&A.
